How Many 2,000 Rupee Notes Have Been Returned?

96% of the 2,000 notes have been returned. 4% are pending, these can be exchanged with the banks until 7 October.

What Will Happen From 8th October?

Banks will stop the exchange facilities. However, the notes would continue to be legal tender.

How is This Different from Demonetisation?

This is unlike demonetisation, wherein the legal tender of 500 & 1000 rupee notes was withdrawn. It is implemented under the RBI’s ‘Clean Note Policy'.
